National University of Mineral Resources (Mining University) is the first higher technical educational institution in Russia. It was founded in 1773 by the Decree of Empress Catherine II as implementation of Peter the Great’s and M.V. Lomonosov’s ideas to train Russian specialists for the mining and metallurgical industries - the key industrial sectors for the country’s development. Today the Mining University enjoys the highest status within the state educational system of Russia that is one of the most valuable objects of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation and has been awarded four government decorations as well as the title of the National Research University.
The purpose of the conference is to discuss the role of humanities in technical students’ education from different points of view: philosophy, culturology, linguodidactics, methods of teaching and pedagogics. The conference aims at generalization of domestic and world experience of teaching students.
The conference is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Foreign Languages Department foundation. Within the framework of the conference the presentations are to be made by lecturers of the Faculty of Humanities of the Mining University, as well as the leading Russian and foreign universities. The questions considered during the conference may be of use to the specialists, lectures, postgraduate students and persons working in the sphere of higher vocational education.

The authors who want to take part in the conference are to prepare abstracts not exceeding 300 words and submit them with the application form to the conference organizing committee until the deadline April 15th, 2013.
To ensure a high level of the conference all abstracts submitted for this symposium will be peer reviewed to check their compliance with the conference topics and objectives, following which the decision on presentation submission will be made.
The text files should be submitted in MS Word format: Times New Roman, 14 pt.

The authors are solely responsible for the scientific content of their papers. The organizing committee reserves the right to reject a paper for publication.

Articles Formatting Requirements
The full text of an article should not exceed 0.5 author’s sheet.
Layout of the article:
MS Word text editor (Windows 2000, Windows 2003) should be used for manuscript articles. Both a hardcopy (1.5 or double line spacing, on A4 standard, 16 х 24.5cm) and a document on an electronic media (e.g. CD) are to be submitted.
The text of the article should be written in Times New Roman, 12pt., Normal, 1.5 line spacing, paragraph indention should be 1.25cm; wrong overturns are prohibited, word-wrapping is obligatory, only automatic full justification is required. When typing, authors should bear in mind that key button Enter is to be pressed only at the end of a paragraph! A list box is not to be used for numbering. There should be a forced space (Ctrl + Shift + spacebar) between initials and a last name.
Tables should be written row-wise, in Times New Roman, 9pt., Normal. Words should not be curtailed. The size of tables should fit the format: not exceeding 16 х 24 or 7.3 х 24cm.
If a footnote is needed, it should be placed at the bottom of the page on which it is referenced. Footnotes are to be made automatically, written in Times New Roman, 9pt., Normal.
Formulas, Equations, and Special Symbols should be written in Times New Roman, 12pt., Italics; large subscripts in Times New Roman, 8pt., Normal; small subscripts in Times New Roman, 7pt., Normal; large characters in Times New Roman, 20pt., Normal; small characters in Times New Roman, 12pt., Normal. Authors are required to use only Equation Editor 3.0 included with Microsoft Word.
^ should be ready for printing as computer generated images. An editor used for creating these images should be Word-compatible. The size of figures should fit the format: not exceeding 16 х 24 or 7.3 х 24cm. Captions are necessary for every illustration and figure.
^ i.e. all colored parts should be patterned in different ways. Gray, color, or shading graphics are not accepted.
Reference should be listed in alphabetical order and presented as shown in the example at the end of this document. They should be written in Times New Roman, 9pt., Normal. Reference should be indicated in the text within square brackets.
